Hornby Mk4 Standard Coach B GNER

Introduced for the newly electrified East Coast Main Line, the Mk4 coach became a defining part of InterCity East Coast services from 1989 onwards. This Hornby Mk4 Standard Coach B is an authentically replicated model railway coach finished in Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) livery, reflecting the era following privatisation when the InterCity East Coast franchise was first awarded to GNER.

The real Mk4 fleet was built at Metro-Cammell’s Washwood Heath factory between 1989 and 1992, with design influences drawn from the Advanced Passenger Train. Later refurbishment work carried out by Bombardier Transportation for GNER between October 2003 and November 2005 introduced updated seating layouts and onboard Wi‑Fi as part of ‘Project Mallard’.
