Ian Fleming James Bond Series 2 Collection brings together seven books from Fleming’s 007 canon. Presented as a seven-book set, it spans novels and short-story collections featuring James Bond.
This collection places Bond in a series of sharply drawn assignments, from an undercover operation in the French countryside to a mission shaped by M’s personal stake. Elsewhere, a dinner party in the Bahamas reveals how quickly passion can harden into cruelty, while a Mediterranean smuggling conflict demands difficult choices. The set closes with a murder mystery at sea, where even 007 has something to conceal.
At M’s insistence, Bond is sent to a secluded natural health spa for a two-week respite. Among austere routines and the notorious “Rack”, he picks up the trail of a lethal figure connected to a new organisation: SPECTRE.
Vivienne Michel, a French Canadian raised in the United Kingdom, travels alone with a supercharged Vespa and a small roll of American dollars. Stopping at the Dreamy Pines Motor Court in the Adirondacks, she is coerced into minding the empty motel for the night, only to be confronted by armed mobsters. When a third stranger arrives—an assured Englishman with a talent for reading a room—the balance of power shifts.
After Operation Thunderball, Blofeld’s trail has gone cold, and Bond’s enthusiasm for his work has faded with it. Contessa Teresa “Tracy” di Vicenzo, a troubled young woman with a taste for fast cars and danger, becomes the one thing capable of reigniting his drive.
The tragic end to Bond’s last mission, at Blofeld’s hands, leaves him broken and of little use to the British Secret Service. With 007 sunk in torpor, M opts for a drastic remedy: an impossible diplomatic mission to Japan.
Bond faces “Pistols” Scaramanga, a KGB-trained assassin responsible for the deaths of British Secret Service agents. His signature weapon is a gold-plated Colt .45. After being brainwashed by the Soviets, Bond is offered one final chance to regain M’s trust by stopping Scaramanga before he strikes MI6 again.
This collection ranges from a reckoning with wartime sins in the Caribbean to the coded manoeuvres of a Sotheby’s bidding war designed to expose a KGB agent. Bond also travels to New York to warn an ex-agent about her boyfriend’s secret affiliation. In Berlin, he is tasked with protecting a British agent before an assassin can act.
