Synopses

Practical Magic

For more than two hundred years, the Owens women have been blamed for everything that goes wrong in their Massachusetts town. Their elderly aunts seem to encourage the whispers of witchery, with their musty house, exotic concoctions and a crowd of black cats.

The Rules of Magic

This prequel introduces sisters Frances and Jet and their brother Vincent. Their mother, Susanna, knows from the beginning that they are unique: Franny can commune with birds, Jet knows what others are thinking, and Vincent is charismatic and built for trouble.

Magic Lessons

For centuries, the women of the Owens family have been cursed: any man who loves an Owens woman will die. The story begins with a baby abandoned in a snowy English field in the 1600s, taken in by Hannah Owens. As the child grows, Hannah teaches Maria about the “Unnamed Arts”, for which Maria has a gift that may prove her undoing.

The Book of Magic

The Owens family curse continues to shape their lives in matters of love. When aunt Jet Owens hears the sound of the deathwatch beetle, she takes it as a signal. Having discovered the secret to breaking the curse, she must act quickly, with only seven days left to live.
