This 10-book collection brings together a selection of classic Kipper picture stories. Kipper’s world is presented as a place where anything can happen, and the character is described as having wide child appeal and being loved by children around the world.
Across the set, Kipper shares everyday adventures with friends including Tiger, Pig and Arthur. The stories include a birthday mix-up, seaside play with a surprising new beach ball, a playful hide-and-seek with a mouse, and a year of seasonal moments captured on camera. There are also tales featuring favourite toys, snowy-day fun, baby animals and a camping trip filled with shadows and strange noises.
Kipper’s world is described as a place where anything can happen. He is presented as a classic picture character with strong child appeal.
Kipper’s birthday is tomorrow, so he bakes a cake and writes invitations for his friends. When he hands them out on his birthday morning, the message causes confusion, before things turn out well when his friends arrive with a special present.
Kipper finds a plastic surprise inside a box of cornflakes, which turns out to be a very large beach ball. He and Tiger play with it by the sea until it pops, and the story ends with the idea that more treasure can be found in another box.
A squeaky mouse runs across the page and hides in the fold in the middle of the book. Kipper tries to help keep the mouse safe from a cat.
Pig wants a pet for his birthday, so Kipper buys him a hamster called Roly. Kipper becomes attached to Roly while playing with him and misses the party, finding it hard to give the hamster away.
Kipper gets a new camera and uses it to record adventures with Tiger throughout the year. They play in the snow, catch tadpoles, pick blackberries and collect conkers, and at Christmas Kipper makes Tiger a memory book with a photo for each month.
Kipper counts his favourite toys but worries when something has been nibbling a hole in his toy box. Looking closely at the pictures reveals the cause: a little mouse.
When snow begins to fall, Kipper rushes outside to enjoy it. With Tiger, he makes snow angels, has snowball fights and builds a snow-dog.
Kipper and Arthur talk about baby animals and their names, from owlet to froglet and hoglet. They wonder what a baby dog is called and invite the reader to join in.
Kipper and Tiger go camping in the woods with a torch and a storybook. As it gets darker, shadows and noises make them increasingly scared, and the story asks whether they can learn to overcome their fears.
