The secret of this energy saving cooking lies in the highly efficient stainless steel pot, the airtight lid and the heat retaining properties of the melamine bowl. Start cooking on the hob in the stainless steel pot – for example vegetables, rice, a chicken breast, a casserole, even fruit. Leave the food to cook on the hob for the required time (see examples below or take a look at the Hotpan cooking chart) then transfer the lidded stainless steel pot to the coloured melamine bowl and leave on a work surface. The melamine will insulate the heat so that the food will carry on cooking and stay warm for up to 2 hours. As well as being energy and time efficient this soft cooking process helps the food to retain more vitamins and nutrients.

Some examples of cooking times with Hotpan:

• Carrots, cauliflower, courgettes and leeks – 5 minutes on the hob, 15 minutes in the insulating bowl.
• Potatoes – 15 minutes on the hob, 30 minutes in the insulating bowl.
• Rice – 5 minutes on the hob, 25 minutes in the insulating bowl.
• Lamb casserole – 40 minutes on the hob, 60 minutes in the insulating bowl.
• Risotto – 5 minutes on the hob, 20 minutes in the insulating bowl.

Use & Care

• Before first use remove any packaging. Sticky labels should be peeled off, remove any residue by gently rubbing with a soapy cloth or sponge. Handwash and dry.
• The pot, lid and bowl are dishwasher safe but can easily be washed by hand.
• If cleaning by hand use hot, soapy water. Stubborn burnt on stains might need soaking first.
• Use a nylon brush or scourer for gentle cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or metal scourers to clean the pan.
• Limescale marks can easily be removed with vingear or lemon juice.
• Use Kuhn Rikon Swiss Cleaner to remove stubborn marks and stains.
• Use silicone or wooden utensils. Do not use sharp implements, such as knives, or electric blenders in the pan.
• The stainless steel pot is suitable for use on all types of hob, including induction.
• Try to match the diameter of the pan to the ring on the hob.
• Never heat an empty pan, always heat up a pan gradually, don’t place it on a high heat.
• Avoid dragging your pan across a glass topped hob.
• Pan handles are designed to stay cool on the hob but make sure gas flames are not licking up the side.
• Oven safe up to 180°C.
• Use oven gloves when removing pans from the oven.
• Do not place pans on the oven floor, always use an oven shelf.
• Never place the melamine bowl on direct heat, in the oven or microwave.
