The album marked a departure from the band’s earlier indie rock sound, drawing inspiration from the house music scene and associated drugs including LSD and MDMA. It includes Manchester born singer Denise Johnson, peaked at number eight on the UK Albums Chart, won the first Mercury Music Prize in 1992, and has sold over three million copies worldwide.
