Adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1943, the Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien became a distinctive presence in the Pacific War thanks to its liquid-cooled Ha-40 engine, slim fuselage and long wing. This Tamiya Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien Tony (1:48 Scale) plastic model assembly kit recreates the Ki-61-Id Type Hien variant with its elongated nose, produced in 1,360 units and deployed by units including the 244th Air Group led by Captain Teruhiko Kobayashi.

At 1/48 scale, the build captures key engineering and airframe details, from the inverted Ha-40 V12 with supercharger to the compact cockpit layout. The underside radiator is rendered with careful attention, including air intake slats, while the canopy offers open or closed assembly. Parts are included to model drop tanks, a figure, and two marking options for 244th Air Group aircraft.
