The Who Quadrophenia is a 2LP black vinyl pressing presented in a gatefold sleeve. Originally released in October 1973, it is described as the band’s second rock opera and was composed entirely by Pete Townshend. The 17-song set follows the story of Jimmy, a member of the Mods, and chronicles dissatisfaction with life, work, love, home and family, while also reflecting British youth culture and the band’s early fans from their pub and club years around London in the ’60s.
The album includes performances from Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, Roger Daltrey and Keith Moon, with the focus placed on the songs’ music and lyrics alongside the individual guitar, bass, vocal and drum parts.
