Villa Maria Clifford Bay Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2023

From Villa Maria, the Clifford Bay Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a Marlborough wine shaped by the cooler, windier conditions of the Awatere Valley. Pungent aromatics of lemongrass, jalapeño and fresh herbs rise from the glass, followed by classic lime flavours and the crunch of freshly picked garden peas.

This Reserve blend draws on fruit from the Graham, McKee and Gussin Vineyards, located very near the coast. Accounting for 75% of the wine, this very cool and windy part of the Awatere Valley contributes a linear structure and chalky salinity. The remainder comes from the Blackbirch Vineyard, situated inland at 200m elevation on the northern bank of the Awatere River, adding further dimension to the finished style.
