Zonin Chianti Classico 2019

From Zonin, the Chianti Classico 2019 is a ruby-red Italian red wine made with a traditional skin-contact fermentation and extended maturation for a composed, food-friendly style. After the stalks are removed and the grapes are gently crushed, the must ferments for 12 days in modern horizontal tanks to increase contact with the skins and concentrate flavour. The wine is then racked into large Slavonian oak casks to mature and fine for 12 months, followed by further fining in bottle.

Brilliant in colour and enticingly full, it can show an austere edge in its youth before softening into a more velvety texture, with prolonged aromatic persistence. Serve alongside savoury main courses, meat dishes with rich sauces, grilled red meats and game, or pair with long-aged cheeses, particularly those with piquant flavours.
