Boy Underwater by Adam Baron is presented here as a three-book set featuring stories centred on Cymbeline Igloo and those around him. In the first book, Cymbeline has never been swimming, but decides to give it a go after looking up front crawl online and finding his dad’s old trunks.

Across the collection, Cymbeline faces a series of mysteries and unsettling events. In You Won’t Believe This, someone is doing terrible things to Mrs Martin, his favourite teacher, and he sets out to find the culprit while also trying to help his friend Veronique as her grandma, Nanai, becomes dangerously ill. In This Wonderful Thing, Jessica discovers a dirty teddy bear in the river, while Cymbeline returns home to find his mum’s house has been broken into, with thieves seemingly focused on his toys, including Not Mr Fluffy, his Bear of Most Extreme Importance.

Synopses

Boy Underwater

Cymbeline Igloo has never been swimming, not once. After Googling front crawl and finding his dad’s old trunks, he decides he is ready to learn.

You Wont Believe This

Someone is doing terrible things to Mrs Martin, Cymbeline Igloo’s favourite teacher. Cymbeline sets out to find the culprit, while also trying to help his friend Veronique as her grandma, Nanai, becomes dangerously ill. Nanai has a secret linked to her arrival in the UK as a Boat Person from Vietnam, during a traumatic journey in which she lost her twin sister.

This Wonderful Thing

Jessica is playing by the river when she finds a dirty, bedraggled teddy bear in the water, unaware of what it will set in motion. Meanwhile, Cymbeline comes home to discover his mum’s house has been broken into, and the thieves appear to have been searching for his toys. He is relieved that Not Mr Fluffy, his Bear of Most Extreme Importance, was with him.
