From Böjt in Eger, Hungary, this 2019 Bikavér Superior Selection is a dry, full-bodied red wine built around the region’s hallmark grape, Kékfrankos. The blend combines 55% Kékfrankos, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Pinot Noir, 5% Zweigelt and 5% Blauburger, with 14.0% ABV.
Sourced from old vines on the family estate in Ostoros, 4km from the city of Eger, it shows a ruby red colour with aromas of vanilla, violets and berries. The palate brings layers of mulberries, dark cherries, liquorice and cocoa, supported by soft tannins and lightly smoky, well-integrated oak tones. Suitable for vegans, this is a confident choice for rich, earthy dishes.

Serve with goulash, pan-fried lamb, game or mushroom dishes. It also pairs well with ripe Brie or hard salty cheeses such as Pecorino.
