Bonnier Zaffre Bear Grylls Complete Adventure Series 12 Books Collection Set brings together twelve activity-camp stories in which children face demanding outdoor challenges. Each adventure begins at camp, where a young person’s worries or habits are tested, before a mysterious compass transports them into a more extreme environment.

Across the collection, survival expert Bear Grylls appears as a guide when situations turn dangerous, from freezing tundra and raging rivers to caves, deserts and the open sea. The stories follow characters who would rather avoid discomfort, fear the dark, dislike insects, struggle with directions, or find teamwork difficult, and place them in settings where they must respond to what is happening around them.

Synopses

The Blizzard Challenge

Olly is not enjoying activity camp and would rather be at home, warm and dry, with the sofa and video games. He questions why he should build a shelter or forage for food with his teammates.

The Desert Challenge

Sophie loves activity camp but is terrified of insects and avoids going into the tent alone. After being given a compass by one of the boys, she is magically transported to the desert, where insects are impossible to avoid.

The Jungle Challenge

Omar is competitive and impatient, especially when other people slow him down. At camp he excels at the challenges, but he is frustrated that his teammates are not as quick, brave or strong, and thinks it would be easier to go alone.

The Sea Challenge

Chloe enjoys camp and the outdoor activities, but does not understand why people insist on leaving places as they were found. She dismisses the impact of litter in the woods, believing it does not matter.

The River Challenge

Jack avoids anything that might involve swimming. After falling into a small stream at camp, he is transported to a raging river with dangers around every bend, where Bear Grylls helps guide him through the waters and rebuild his confidence.

The Earthquake Challenge

Fatima enjoys camp in the daytime but finds the pitch-black nights in the tent frightening. A mysterious compass transports her to a city still feeling aftershocks, with no lights and buildings falling, and Bear Grylls helps her reach safety.

Along the way, Fatima discovers the city is not as deserted as it first seemed and learns about staying calm, whatever happens.

The Volcano Challenge

Charlie loves challenges and is skilled at working out how to reach the next level in video games, but finds the real world dull. He ends up on the slopes of an active volcano with lava heading his way, with Bear as his guide out of danger.

The Safari Challenge

Evie likes new experiences but is extremely fussy about what she eats. On a sun-baked safari with Bear Grylls, where food and water are scarce and wild animals prowl, she must eat what she can, when she can, even if it seems disgusting.

The Cave Challenge

A mysterious compass with a fifth direction transports a young boy to a vast cave system filled with bats, steep drops and hidden dangers. Bear Grylls guides him out as he faces his fears and grows in confidence.

The Mountain Challenge

A mysterious compass with a fifth direction takes a young girl to a mountain top high above sea level, where the air is thin and conditions are tough. Bear Grylls helps her make a safe descent while she confronts her fears and gains confidence.

The Arctic Challenge

Joe gets on well with everyone and enjoys camp, but struggles to remember directions and follow instructions. After receiving a mysterious compass, he sets off with Bear Grylls into the Arctic tundra, where knowing where you are going is crucial.

The Sailing Challenge

Mia is confident and likes to lead, but finds it hard to step back and let others have their say. A mysterious compass takes her on an adventure with Bear Grylls sailing the high seas, where teamwork and the dangers of the ocean come into focus.
