Freida McFadden 4 Books Set brings together four thrillers: Never Lie, The Housemaid’s Secret, The Locked Door and The Housemaid. Each story centres on secrets, hidden pasts and the unsettling tension of not knowing who to trust.

From a surgeon determined to keep her childhood history buried, to newlyweds stranded in a remote manor during a winter storm, the collection moves between domestic settings and isolated locations where small details begin to feel ominous. Across the set, the narrators describe lives shaped by unanswered questions, locked rooms and carefully controlled appearances.

Synopses

The Locked Door

At eleven, Nora Davis is doing homework upstairs, unaware that her father is killing women in the basement, until the police arrive at their door. Decades later, her father is in prison for life and Nora is a successful surgeon living quietly and alone. No one knows her past, and she is determined to keep it hidden.

Never Lie

Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are house-hunting when they visit a remote manor once owned by Dr Adrienne Hale, a renowned psychiatrist who vanished years earlier. When a violent winter storm traps them at the estate, the house begins to lose its appeal.

The Housemaid

The narrator cleans the Winchesters’ house each day, collects their daughter from school and cooks for the family, before eating alone in a small room on the top floor. She tries to ignore Nina’s deliberate messes, strange lies about her daughter and the way Nina’s husband, Andrew, seems more broken with each passing day.

The Housemaid’s Secret

Finding an employer who does not ask questions about the narrator’s past is difficult, so she is relieved when the Garricks hire her to clean their penthouse and prepare meals. She plans to stay quiet while she works there. But she has not met Mrs Garrick or seen inside the guest bedroom, and she is sure she can hear her crying.
