Harry And The Dinosaurs Collection brings together ten stories by Ian Whybrow, following Harry and his much-loved bucketful of dinosaurs through everyday adventures. Across the set, Harry faces new experiences with help from his dinosaurs, Nan, Mum, friends and family, from school days and sleepovers to trips out and special occasions.
The collection includes tales set at the dentist, a museum and a safari park, as well as stories about teamwork, birthdays and building a robot. Each book centres on a familiar situation, with Harry and his dinosaurs finding ways to cope, join in and have fun.
Harry’s dinosaurs start hiding around the house and will not come out. With a dentist appointment ahead, Harry coaxes them back into their bucket, but it is still to be seen how they will behave at the dentist.
When Harry’s robot needs fixing at the robot hospital, Nan and Harry decide to make their own robot while it is being mended. Later, when Nan goes into hospital too, Harry knows what to do to help her get better.
Harry’s football team keeps getting in each other’s way, despite trying hard. Harry learns a key trick about teamwork, and together with his friends and their mascot auruses they win the best prize ever.
At Water World, Harry and the dinosaurs enjoy the waves until a big wave knocks them over. Harry feels unsure about going back in the water, but with Nan’s help he and the dinosaurs overcome their nerves and make the biggest splash of the day.
On a visit to a safari park, Harry discovers that some animals are in danger of becoming extinct and wants to help. He learns that even someone small can still make a big difference.
It is Harry’s first day at school and he is excited, and a little nervous. When his dinosaur friends do not join him in the classroom, Harry doubts he will like school, until the dinosaurs come to the rescue and Harry and a new friend discover how much fun it can be.
Harry finds dusty plastic dinosaurs in Nan’s attic, cleans them, learns their names and takes them everywhere. When the dinosaurs go missing, the lost property man is surprised when Harry proves they are his by calling them over.
At the museum, Harry and the dinosaurs see Roman swords and spears, Egyptian mummies and lots of Harry’s ancestors. The dinosaurs ask Harry to help them find their ancestors, and Harry ends up getting lost; Mum and Nan must work out where to look for him.
Harry and his dinosaurs go to a sleepover at Jack’s house and have so much fun they do not miss home at first. When it gets dark and things go bump in the night, the dinosaurs become unsure, but Harry’s friends help everyone have a roaringly good time.
Harry loves birthday parties, but feels disappointed when his big sister Sam says she is going to one alone. It is Mr Oakley’s birthday, and Harry also learns it is the dinosaurs’ one hundred millionth birthday, so he plans a surprise party and even Sam helps to make the treats.
