From Swiss winemakers Evelyne and Erhard Heumann, La Trinita Villanyi Franc 2018 is a full-bodied red wine from Villany, Hungary. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc and bottled at 15.0% ABV, it reflects the warm conditions of the region while retaining structure, complexity and fine tannin.

Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks, followed by 24 months' maturation in 225L Hungarian oak barriques. The result is a dark, layered wine with deep black fruit aromas, good acidity and finely grained tannin. Notes of cassis, mulberries, black cherry, spice, dark chocolate and woody hints give it depth, making it a strong match for smoky barbecue dishes, slow-cooked lamb stew or mature soft cheeses.

Tasting notes

Deep black fruit aromas with cassis, mulberries, black cherry, spice, dark chocolate and woody hints. Good acidity, a layered structure and finely grained tannin shape the finish.

Serving suggestion

Pairs with smoky BBQ food, pork belly, goose liver pate, beef burgers, slow-cooked lamb stew, meatballs in tomato sauce, roasted root vegetables or beluga lentils. Also suited to mature Brie, Camembert or strong Tomme de Savoie.
