British rail history is captured in miniature with Hornby’s RailRoad Class 37/4 locomotive, 37418 ‘An Comunn Gaidhealach’, finished in Loram Rail markings. Produced in 1:76 scale, this ready-to-run model is set up for analogue DC operation and suits collectors building a modern image fleet or adding a distinctive named Class 37 to a layout.
Originally built at Vulcan Foundry and introduced to British Rail service as D6971 on 18 March 1965, the locomotive was allocated to Cardiff Canton before being rebuilt as a Class 37/4 and renumbered 37418 in 1985. It received the name ‘An Comunn Gaidhealach’ (The Gaelic Association) in 1986, later moving through further renamings and private ownership from 2007. Still active on hire to freight operator Loram Rail, its historic name was reinstated in 2024.
