The set also includes a mystery at Sandy Bottom End, an elephant determined to prove himself, and a rhyming look at a busy household, with illustrations by Adrian Reynolds for Who's in the Loo?.

Synopses

Mine's Bigger than Yours

Little Hairy Monster is sitting on a rock, licking a lollipop, when Scary Monster arrives and insists he is bigger. He demands the lollipop and tries to bully her into handing it over. Little Hairy Monster refuses, and Scary Monster is in for a big surprise.

The Pets You Get

A small boy imagines the wild pets he could have, from an enormous bear to a fiery dragon. He thinks they would be far better than his sister’s guinea pig. He then discovers that even the smallest pets can be surprisingly fun.

I'm Sure I Saw a Dinosaur

There is more to this story than first appears. Could there really be a dinosaur at Sandy Bottom End, or is someone up to something?

Ready Steady Jump

Other baby animals laugh at Elephant because he cannot jump, so he sets out to prove them wrong. Despite trying hard, he still cannot jump. He realises he can do something no other animal can, and his strong, long trunk makes him a hero.

That's Not Funny

Hyena puts a banana skin on Giraffe’s path as a joke. When Giraffe slips and collides with a tree, it triggers a chain of unfortunate events involving the other animals. Hyena laughs at their misfortune.

Who's in the Loo?

This witty rhyme looks at a house with many occupants. Jeanne Willis’s irreverent, observant text is paired with exuberant illustrations by Adrian Reynolds.
