Joe Abercrombie First Law and World Of The First Law Series 6 Books Collection Set brings together six novels from the First Law and World of the First Law series. Across these stories, familiar figures face war, political intrigue and personal reckonings, from the North to the heat-ravaged south and beyond.

The collection introduces characters including Inquisitor Glokta, a former fencing champion turned torturer, Captain Jezal dan Luthar, a nobleman and officer with a talent for cards, and Logen Ninefingers, drawn towards one more decisive fight. Later books widen the focus to power struggles, shifting loyalties and the pull of the past, including Shy South’s pursuit into the lawless Far Country.

Synopses

The Blade Itself

Inquisitor Glokta, a crippled veteran of the last war, continues his work as a torturer, refusing to let his broken body interrupt his routine. Captain Jezal dan Luthar, a nobleman and officer, lives comfortably, passing his time cheating at cards and avoiding the effort of training.

Before They Are Hanged

In the south, the Gurkish gather to attack Dagoska, where Glokta oversees the city’s defence. With defeat expected, preparations are made to make the invaders pay dearly, but a plot threatens to surrender the city without a fight. As danger closes in from both inside and outside the walls, Glokta searches for answers, and quickly.

Last Argument of Kings

Logen Ninefingers may have only one more fight left, as war spreads across the North and the King of the Northmen holds firm. The only person who can stop him is both an old friend and an old enemy. Elsewhere, Superior Glokta fights a quieter conflict, where trust is scarce and safety is uncertain.

Best Served Cold

After nineteen years of bloodshed, Grand Duke Orso is locked in a brutal struggle with the League of Eight, draining the land as armies march and cities burn. Behind the fighting, bankers, priests and older, darker powers manoeuvre to decide who will be king.

The Heroes

Black Dow is said to have killed his way to the throne of the North. The King of the Union, a wary neighbour, will not stand by as Dow seeks to rise further. Orders are given, and armies push through the northern mud.

Red Country

Shy South wants to leave her violent past behind, but must return to old ways to get her family back. She rides out with only a pair of oxen and her stepfather Lamb. In the lawless Far Country, Lamb’s own past begins to surface, and what was buried refuses to stay that way.
