From Paolo Leo, the Orfeo Negroamaro 2021 is a red wine from Salento, produced in the village of San Donaci. The estate’s story begins at the turn of the twentieth century, when Antonio Leo started vinifying grapes grown in the vineyards of Masseria Monticello. Ongoing investment has shaped the winery into a modern operation, with a capacity of 120,000 hl and a barrel room housing 1,000 French and American oak barriques. The company is certified organic.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour with garnet tinges. The bouquet is pronounced and spicy, with aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant and blueberry, alongside notes of black pepper and liquorice, plus nuances of vanilla and chocolate. Full-bodied on the palate, it offers smooth, lingering tannins balanced by good freshness, finishing long and persistent with black fruits and spice.
