From Quinta da Pedra Alta, Alta No. 10 Ten Year Old Tawny Port N.V. is an elegant, complex Tawny Port, made in traditional granite lagars and matured in old Port casks before blending and bottling. Ready to drink now, it suits relaxed entertaining, whether poured slightly chilled as an aperitif or served alongside food.

In the glass, the aroma is described as very complex, with dried fruits, toffee, caramel and cask notes. The palate follows with a luscious, layered tawny character, a velvety texture and a refreshing finish.

Crafted with care from the start, the grapes are handpicked, hand sorted and destemmed into granite lagars, where they are foot-stomped for up to four hours. Fermentation takes place with wild yeasts at 20–25°C, before spirit is added at the appropriate time to stop fermentation. After maceration, the ferments are drained, pressed and transferred to old casks for maturation, then blended from a variety of aged parcels with different levels of sweetness and acidity, including a small proportion from barrels aged at least 40 years old. The aim is a Ten-Year-Old Tawny style where sweetness takes a back seat and Pedra Alta acidity provides the focus.
