From Murfatlar in Dobrogea, Lacrima lui Ovidiu is a fortified Romanian red dessert wine with 15% ABV. Aged for 5 years in oak barrels, it is made from Pinot Noir, Feteasca Neagra, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with the blend adjusted according to the harvest years.

Rich and full-bodied, it combines notes of currants and blueberries with woody, smoky and cocoa character. The structure retains the body and tannin of Cabernet Sauvignon alongside the suppleness of Pinot Noir, supported by well-integrated acidity and a long aftertaste. It suits sweet desserts particularly well, especially vanilla custard pastries.

Palate
