Special Reserve 101

Portobello’s Special Reserve 101 is a limited edition London Dry Gin created to mark the producer’s 10th birthday. Bottled at 50.5% ABV, it is made with a British potato spirit base and developed through ten years of gin distilling experiments, while remaining within London Dry Gin regulations.

The spirit is rested in oak before distillation, using oak as a botanical to bring flavour without colour. Classic London Dry botanicals are then steeped for 48 hours, with 50% more juniper, before the gin is cut with Vichy Catalan water. The result is a full-flavoured style with notable depth, texture and a distinctly juniper-led profile that suits those who prefer a more intense expression.

Tasting notes

Nose

Intense juniper with distinct notes of citrus and winter spice, alongside a gentle suggestion of flowers and perfume.

Palate

Creamy and weighty, coating the mouth and tongue. Juniper leads, followed by lemon, orange, cassia and nutmeg.

Finish

Long and warming, with juniper and spice remaining apparent well after the initial sip.

Serving suggestion

Its full and intense character carries clearly through mixed drinks and cocktails, and it is most at home in a Martini.
