This 10-book collection brings together Andrew Cope’s Spy Dog series, following LARA, also known as Agent GM451 and “Licensed Assault and Rescue Animal”. Described as a black and white mongrel with one ear up and the other flopping over one eye, she appears ordinary while working undercover, but is equipped with a wide range of skills and a nose for trouble.
Across the set, Lara takes on missions involving villains, crime and mystery, from undercover work and daring escapes to investigations closer to home with the Cook family. With pups Spud and Star alongside her in several adventures, the stories range from school-based plots and break-ins to theme-park trouble, strange weather over Brickfield, and threats that stretch as far as space.
Lara, Agent GM451, is called in when villainous head teachers plot to create a secret formula, with a child’s brain as the final ingredient. Their plan includes extreme measures, even banning playtime. Lara must sniff out the danger and face her most risky mission yet.
Meet GM451, the first Spy Dog, also known as Lara. With skills ranging from computer expertise and unarmed combat to speaking five languages, she is sent on a mission to escape an evil drug baron, go undercover and await retrieval by the Secret Service, while trying not to grow too attached to the family looking after her.
After Ben wins a competition to name a new rollercoaster, the Cook family visit Enchanted Towers for the grand opening. Lara and her pups, Spud and Star, are ready for rides and treats, but a pick-pocket is on the loose. Lara is determined to catch the thief before the new attraction opens.
Sophie’s new teacher suffers a run of bad luck when his house is broken into, followed by the school. The break-ins are unusual because nothing is stolen. Lara sets out to solve the mystery before the criminals strike again, with Spud and Star by her side.
In the eighth Spy Dog adventure, Lara joins Mr and Mrs Cook at a new gym and uncovers a shocking scheme. The gym owner, Harriet Hawk, is brainwashing people into committing crimes across the country. Lara and the pups must stop the plan and rescue the Cooks and the children before it is too late.
An unusual storm cloud hangs over Brickfield and Lara suspects something is wrong, especially when it smells “chickeny”. As the town’s residents become increasingly grumpy, Lara investigates before the lack of sunshine leads to dogastrophic consequences.
Although retired from the Secret Service, Lara still follows danger when searching for her long-lost dad. She discovers a group of rocket-building scientists with an evil leader planning trouble in space. Lara takes on another mission as an out-of-this-world adventure begins.
Lara returns with new skills and two secret weapons, even while in retirement. On the Cook family’s holiday island, she senses there is more going on than it first appears. It is up to Lara to uncover the mystery.
National security is threatened when Mr Big escapes from prison again, determined to steal Egypt’s most valuable treasure, the Nile Ruby. The Prime Minister turns to Spy Dog as the only agent who can stop him. Lara must learn new tricks to find the ruby, protect her pups and put Mr Big back behind bars.
Lara, also known as Agent GM451, takes on Mr Big after he escapes from prison. He plans to frame her and set her up for serious trouble, while targeting the Millennium Diamond, described as the world’s most precious jewel. Lara must act before it “goes walkies”.
