Synopses

Kafka on the Shore

Fifteen-year-old Kafka Tamura runs away from home, living under his father’s dark prophesy. Elsewhere, Nakata, an ageing tracker of lost cats affected by a strange childhood affliction, finds his simplified life abruptly overturned. As their parallel odysseys unfold, the world shifts into the uncanny, with talking cats, fish falling from the sky and a forest that shelters soldiers seemingly unchanged since the Second World War.

Hearing a favourite Beatles song sends Toru Watanabe back to his student days in Tokyo and to his first love, Naoko, the girlfriend of his best friend, Kizuki. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle
