Synopses

The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels

The Alperton Angels were a cult who brainwashed a teenage girl and convinced her that her newborn baby was the anti-Christ. They believed they had a divine mission to kill the infant, but were stopped when the girl called the police. The Angels later committed suicide rather than stand trial, while the mother and baby disappeared into the care system.

Nearly twenty years on, true-crime author Amanda Bailey begins writing a book about the case. With the baby now eighteen and able to be interviewed, she searches for them as rival author Oliver Menzies follows the same trail.

The Twyford Code

Edith Twyford was once a world-famous children’s author, and her name is now linked to the rumoured “Twyford Code”: clues said to be hidden in her books, leading to an unknown secret. Steve Smith connects many of the misfortunes in his life to Twyford, beginning with a childhood discovery of one of her books covered in strange symbols.

After showing it to his teacher, Miss Iles, she became convinced it held the key to the code, then disappeared within weeks. Now Steve is determined to find out what happened, and whether she was right.
