Synopses

The Last Ride

On a midsummer night, a stolen car carrying teenagers crashes at high speed on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. DI Jan Talantire attends the scene, where it initially looks like a tragic accident.

Doubts surface when a mother arrives searching for her daughter, Jade, who has not been seen since the previous night. A householder also reports seeing a girl running near the wreck as he came outside, raising urgent questions about whether Jade was in the car and where she went.

The Dark Edge

After an overnight shift, DI Jan Talantire hears an emergency call: someone has fallen to their death from one of Devon’s highest cliffs. Nearby, she agrees to stay at the scene until uniformed officers arrive.

A small group of people connected to the victim, Joanne Dexter, has gathered, and suspicion quickly forms around what they know. When the Commissioner asks Talantire to lead the investigation, she realises the fall was not an accident and that Joanne’s work brought her into contact with dangerous people.

The Deep End

On Boxing Day, the body of an unidentified woman is found beneath Teignmouth Pier, wearing a wetsuit and carrying no ID. After a post-mortem reveals heavy metal poisoning, DI Jan Talantire is brought in.
