This four-book collection brings together key works by Dr Steven R Gundry MD, including The Plant Paradox, The Longevity Paradox, The Energy Paradox and Unlocking the Keto Code. Across the set, Dr Gundry presents his views on diet, energy and ageing, drawing on his work with patients and exploring how different biological processes may relate to everyday health concerns.

The books cover topics ranging from plant-based proteins called lectins and where they are found, to an approach to ageing that focuses on the microorganisms living within the body. The collection also discusses fatigue and associated mental and physical symptoms, and outlines a proposed mechanism linked to keto diets, described as “mitochondrial uncoupling”.

Included titles

  • The Plant Paradox

Synopses

The Plant Paradox

Dr Gundry argues that gluten is one type of lectin, described as a toxic plant-based protein. He states that lectins are present not only in grains such as wheat, but also in foods often considered healthy, including many fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans and conventional dairy products.

The Longevity Paradox

Drawing on work with thousands of patients, Dr Gundry suggests that “diseases of ageing” are shaped by how people have lived over time, rather than age alone. He sets out an approach to ageing well based on supporting the health of microorganisms that live within the body.

The Energy Paradox

This book expands on discussions of gut, microbiome and mitochondrial health, and links immune malfunction to fatigue. It connects fatigue with symptoms including exhaustion, brain fog, depression, anxiety and low metabolism, and states that persistent low energy is not normal regardless of workload or age.

Unlocking the Keto Code

Dr Gundry describes a biological mechanism he says helps explain the success of keto diets: “mitochondrial uncoupling”. He also argues that ketones are not a “magical” fuel source, and that the body cannot run on ketones and fats alone.
