Galicea Mare Old White White Wine

From Mosia Galicea Mare in Romania’s Oltenia Hills, Galicea Mare Old White Tamaioasa Romaneasca is a dry white wine made from 100% Tamaioasa Romaneasca. Bottled at 12.5% ABV, it brings together floral and fruity character with balanced acidity and a delicate freshness, offering a composed style suited to both relaxed drinking and more considered occasions.

This wine reflects the long winemaking tradition of Galicea Mare, where vineyards have shaped local life for more than a century. In the glass, it shows straw-yellow colour with golden reflections, while the palate is dry, elegant and well structured, with a velvety texture and a persistent, balanced finish.

Serving suggestion

Serve at 10–12°C. Pairs well with grilled or baked fish, seafood, salads with mild cheeses, delicate appetisers, white meat, pasta with delicate sauces and mature cheeses.

About the vineyard

In Dolj County, the vineyards of Galicea Mare have a history of more than 100 years. The original winery was built in 1912 by George-Valentin Bibescu, and the first wines were produced following its inauguration in 1916.

Since 2016, Iosefin Florea has led the renovation of the estate and the revival of wine production at Mosia Galicea Mare. Today, the winery works with more than 40 hectares of vineyards planted with Romanian and French-origin white and red varieties.
