Hornby Mk3 TSD 42159 Coach F LNER

Built for Britain’s 125 mph InterCity era, the Mk3 coach became a defining part of the InterCity 125 trainset. This Hornby model recreates a Mk3 TSD coach in LNER livery, capturing the look of the rolling stock that later passed to LNER in 2018 after it took over the InterCity East Coast franchise.

The real Mk3 design introduced major advances over the Mk2, including secondary air suspension between the bogies and coach body, aerodynamic underframe skirting, and braking and wheel slip protection systems to support faster deceleration. Mk3 coaches are 75 ft (23 m) long, increasing capacity compared with older coaching stock. LNER’s Mk3 fleet ceased operating after a farewell tour at the end of December 2019, following the introduction of Class 800 and 801 sets.
