Langmeil Orphan Bank Shiraz 2021

From Langmeil, the Orphan Bank Shiraz 2021 is a Barossa Shiraz created in tribute to old and rare vineyards. Ten rows of Shiraz planted pre-1860 were saved from a developer’s bulldozer and replanted alongside the original Langmeil vineyard on the banks of the North Para River. Known as the “Orphans”, these vines have found a new home after 150 years, shaping a wine with a distinctive sense of place.

A rich bouquet of red and blue fruits, herbs and cedar is lifted by hints of sage, alongside roasty, savoury notes. On the palate, rich, juicy raspberry and Satsuma plum are complemented by allspice sweetness, adding to the mouthfeel. Balanced fruit, hints of briary spice and textural, fine-grained tannins carry through to a lengthy finish.
