Naomi Novik 2 Books Collection Set (Uprooted & Spinning Silver) pairs two novels shaped by perilous magic and bargains with consequences. Across both stories, everyday lives are pulled into forces that demand a price, from an enchanted forest that does not release its victims unchanged to a winter realm ruled by a fairy king.

In Uprooted, Agnieszka’s village sits under the threat of the Wood, depending on an ageless wizard known as the Dragon to keep its dark power at bay. In Spinning Silver, Miryem’s resolve to protect her family from poverty leads her into rumours, impossible challenges and the ambitions of those around her, including Irina, whose father plans to marry her to the tsar.

Uprooted

Agnieszka loves her village in a quiet valley, but the nearby enchanted forest threatens everything around it. Many who enter the Wood are lost, and those who return come back changed. The villagers rely on the Dragon, an ageless wizard, to hold back the forest’s dark magic, even though his protection comes at a terrible price.

As the next choosing draws near, Agnieszka fears her friend Kasia will be taken to serve him for ten years. When the Dragon arrives, the decision is not what Agnieszka expects.

Spinning Silver

Miryem, brought up in a family of moneylenders, faces poverty when her father cannot bring himself to collect what is owed. She takes over his work and gains a reputation for turning silver into gold, which draws the attention of the fairy king of winter. He sets her an impossible task, with death as the cost of failure and a different kind of ruin if she succeeds.

Her struggle draws in Irina, the unhappy daughter of a lord whose father intends to marry her to the tsar. The tsar is not what he seems, and the secret he keeps threatens both mortal lands and winter alike.
