Set in Britain’s Dark Ages, the collection retells the Arthurian legend through conflict between rival kings, the threat of Saxon invasion and the struggle to unite a divided land.

Across the trilogy, Arthur is presented as a formidable warlord drawn into power, political intrigue and shifting loyalties. With figures including Merlin, Guinevere, Mordred, Nimue and Lancelot, the story follows fragile peace, rebellion and war, as Arthur attempts to hold Britain together while enemies close in.

Synopses

The Winter King

Uther, the High King of Britain, is dead, leaving the infant Mordred as heir while lesser kings vie for the crown. As they feud, Saxon armies prepare to invade. Arthur emerges as a feared warlord, given power by Merlin, and faces the challenge of uniting the country while pursuing a romance with Guinevere.

Enemy of God

Arthur has secured a fragile peace and believes he can hold back the Saxons by bringing the British kingdoms together. Merlin begins a quest for the sacred Treasures of Britain, but the spread of Christianity makes the mission divisive. With Lancelot’s ambitions threatening stability, betrayal becomes a real possibility.

Excalibur

After rebellions and betrayals, Arthur appears at his weakest, and Saxon enemies move to strike before he can recover. Britain is plunged into war, demanding all of Arthur’s leadership and military cunning. As Mordred’s intrigues and Nimue’s dark magic gather force, even Excalibur may not be enough to prevent Arthur’s downfall.
