Quinta de La Rosa Douro Reserva Red 2018

From Quinta de la Rosa, the Douro Reserva Red 2018 is a richly layered red wine defined by freshness, depth and a poised sense of elegance. On the nose, extremely fresh aromas of ripe black fruits are lifted by floral notes, finishing with hints of liquor and chocolate. The palate follows through with a rich, full and complex profile, offering bold flavours while maintaining its defining refinement. Succulent tannins shape a very long, delicious finish.

Quinta de la Rosa’s story is closely tied to the Douro: the Bergqvist family has been involved in the region’s port trade since 1815, and the Quinta de la Rosa estate was gifted to current owner Sophia Bergqvist’s grandmother, Clara, as a christening present in 1906. Over the following 90 years, the winery rose to become one of Portugal’s top quality port producers, with its prowess as a still wine producer becoming evident in the 1990s.

The estate’s landscape is notably unusual, remaining one of the only Single Quintas in the Douro to begin at the riverbank and rise to a peak of 450m. Spanning eleven microclimates, this distinctive setting contributes additional layers of complexity and depth to Quinta de la Rosa wines.
