The Derwent Chronicles Series 3 Book Set by Rosemary Goodacre brings together three novels set across the years surrounding the First World War. The collection follows Amy Fletcher, a shy young woman living in Sussex, whose quiet routine is altered when she meets Edmond Derwent, a Cambridge University student from one of the wealthiest families in the small town of Larchbury.

Spanning 1914 to 1919, the books trace Amy and Edmond’s life through wartime and its aftermath, from their experiences connected to the front line to the challenges of returning to England and establishing family life. As Amy becomes part of the Derwent household, her modest upbringing and the lasting effects of the war continue to shape her place within the family and her life with Edmond.

Synopses

Until we meet again

In summer 1914, Amy Fletcher lives a quiet life in Sussex, working in an office and living at home with her parents and her younger brother, Bertie. Her world changes when she meets Edmond Derwent, a handsome young man from a wealthy Larchbury family who is studying at Cambridge University.

Until the War is Over

In summer 1918, Amy and Edmond Derwent have returned to England after their experiences connected to the front line, with Edmond serving as an officer and Amy working as a VAD in France. With the arrival of their baby, Beth, they begin to build a family life, now living with Edmond’s parents in their grand home. Despite marrying into the Derwent family, Amy finds her modest upbringing means she is not truly accepted by her in-laws.

Until We Can Forgive

In spring 1919, a fragile peace follows the end of the war. Living in Cambridge with Edmond, Amy Derwent is settling into life as a wife and mother to Beth, while the shadow of the conflict remains. Edmond’s injuries sustained at Ypres continue to affect him, shaping their life after the war.
