Synopses

Warriors of the Storm

A fragile peace begins to fracture as Edward and Aethelflaed rule Wessex, Mercia and East Anglia while raids mount from the North. Uhtred controls northern Mercia from Chester, but faces rising forces, including Northmen allied to the Irish and joined by the Northumbrians. With trust tested by divided loyalties and family ties, the struggle offers no easy path.

The Pagan Lord

With Alfred the Great dead and Edward on the throne, Wessex endures but peace cannot last. Danes in the north, led by Cnut Longsword, prepare to invade. Out of favour with the new king, Uhtred leads a band of outcasts north in an attempt to reclaim Bebbanburg, as Saxon kingdoms are pulled into a decisive and bloody war.

The Empty Throne

England is fractured by internal conflict as Mercia’s ruler lies dying without a legitimate heir. His wife is a formidable fighter and leader, yet no woman has ruled an English kingdom. With Uhtred absent, elders and warriors move towards an explosive struggle for power and an empty throne.

The Flame Bearer
