Synopses

Wolf Hall

England in the 1520s: Henry VIII has no heir, and Cardinal Wolsey is charged with securing a divorce the pope refuses to grant. By 1535, Thomas Cromwell is Chief Minister to Henry VIII, with his ascent closely tied to Anne Boleyn, the king’s new wife. As Anne fails to provide an heir and Henry falls for Jane Seymour, Cromwell must find a solution that satisfies the king, safeguards the nation and protects his own career.

The Mirror and the Light

England, May 1536: Anne Boleyn is executed by a hired French executioner. Thomas Cromwell breakfasts with the victors and continues his climb to power and wealth, while Henry VIII settles into short-lived happiness with his third queen, Jane Seymour.
