Designed for rigging and lifting assemblies, these DIN1142 wire rope grips from Rackhams offer a practical way to form secure loops or create a temporary join in a wire rope setup. Made from mild steel with a zinc coating for corrosion resistance, they are suited to use on board boats as well as similar applications on land. This set includes 4 grips, each sized to suit 5mm wire rope.

For safe, reliable performance, installation should be carried out by a qualified person and the fitting guidance followed carefully, including correct orientation of the ‘U’ bolt and ongoing torque checks during service.

Safety information

• Install by a qualified person
• Before fitting, grease the threads on the nuts and bolts
• Keep spacing between grips at least 6 times the diameter of the rope
• Fit with correct orientation: place the ‘U’ bolt on the unloaded end of the rope
• Tighten each nut evenly and in turn to achieve the recommended torque settings
• Leave unused for 24 hours, then re-check torque settings and re-tighten if necessary
• After the first application of load, re-check torque settings and re-tighten if necessary
• During service, periodically check torque settings
