Treatment & maintenance

Corten steel develops a protective rust layer against corrosion when first exposed to atmospheric conditions, so painting is not required. The gate is not rusted on delivery and will arrive with a normal metal colour before the surface changes over time.

To speed up the rusting process, it can be sprayed with soap water and salt water. Avoid contact with the developing rust layer to help prevent stains on clothing.
