Treatment & maintenance

Corten steel is supplied with a normal metal colour and will develop rust over time when exposed to atmospheric conditions. This protective layer helps guard against corrosion and means painting is not required. To accelerate the rusting process, it can be sprayed with soap water and salt water. Avoid contact with the developing rust layer to help prevent staining on clothing.
