Heather Morris’s three-book set brings together interconnected stories set during and after the Holocaust. Across these novels, the focus remains on survival, loyalty and the choices people are forced to make under extreme oppression.

Three Sisters follows Cibi, Magda and Livia, who promise their father they will stay together. Years later, when 15-year-old Livia is ordered to Auschwitz, Cibi follows her, determined to protect her sister as they endure cruelty and hardship. The Tattooist of Auschwitz centres on Lale Sokolov, who arrives at Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1942 and is assigned to tattoo prisoners; when he meets Gita, he becomes determined that they will both survive. Cilka’s Journey begins with sixteen-year-old Cilka Klein’s deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau, and continues after liberation when she is accused of collaboration and sent by the Russians to the Siberian prison camp of Vorkuta, inside the Arctic Circle.
