Designed for secure, physically controlled storage, the Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 Type-C XTS AES Encrypted USB Flash Drive 128GB supports enterprise-grade data protection in a premium USB Type-C format. Part number IKVP50C/128GB combines FIPS 197 certified AES 256-bit hardware encryption in XTS mode with defences against password brute force attacks and BadUSB, backed by digitally-signed firmware.

Multi-password access supports Admin, User and One-Time Recovery roles in both Complex and Passphrase modes, helping restore access if a password is lost. Complex passwords can be set from six to sixteen characters using three of the four character sets, while Passphrase mode accepts a 10-to 64-character numeric PIN, phrase, series of phrases, or lyrics. A built-in virtual keyboard helps protect credentials from keyloggers and screenloggers, and an optional “eye” icon can reveal entered characters to reduce errors. Read-only (write-protect) configurations can be set by Admin and User to help guard against infection on untrusted computers.

Security and access

Brute force defence blocks User or One-Time Recovery passwords after ten consecutive incorrect entries. If the Admin password is entered incorrectly ten times in a row, the drive is crypto-erased. Admin can reset the User password or enable both User and One-Time Recovery to restore access.

Management and customisation

Through Kingston’s Customisation Programme, organisations can personalise drives with a product ID (PID) for integration with common endpoint management software. The Admin role supports local management for small and medium-sized businesses, including resetting employee passwords, retrieving data from locked drives, and meeting legal requirements when forensics are needed.
