Paper High Tree of Life Leather Journal

From Paper High, the Tree of Life Leather Journal is a hand-bound notebook crafted using a blend of contemporary and traditional methods, designed to travel well and develop character over time. The cover is made from leather that is a by-product of the meat industry in India, tanned using only natural dyes and protected with natural oils to help it soften and age beautifully. Embossed detailing is created with small handmade tools, making every piece unique; the pattern around the edge of the cover may vary from the one pictured.

Inside, the journal contains unlined pages of handmade khadda paper (also known as kaddi or khaddi), created from recycled, unbleached cotton salvaged from the Indian garment industry. Lightly textured and luxuriously thick, it’s a pleasure to write, draw, or paint on. It suits ball-point pens, gel pens and watercolours, though it is not recommended for fountain pens. Natural creases, bumps and marks are part of the handmade, distressed finish; if you would prefer a less distressed version, a more suitable journal can be selected on request.
