Synopses

Blue Horizon

Jim Courtney lives under the protection of the Courtney Brothers Trading Company in the Dutch-owned colonies of South Africa. Louisa Leuven, an orphan who escaped the plague, is imprisoned and transported to the Cape, until a storm destroys her prison ship and Jim becomes her only chance of escape. Together they must flee Dutch forces determined to recapture Louisa and punish Jim and his family.

Monsoon

Hal Courtney is now a man of land and family, but the King orders him to sail to Madagascar to stop pirates who are looting the East India Trading Company’s ships. He travels with his three younger sons on a journey intended to shape them. Along the way, the brothers face duels, chases, betrayals and battles.

The Triumph of the Sun

In the heat of the Sudanese sun, Khartoum is under siege by the forces of the Mahdi, who opposes brutal Egyptian governing. Trapped in the city are General Charles Gordon, Penrod Ballantyne of the 10th Hussars, Ryder Courtney, and the British consul with his daughters, alongside thousands of citizens. As rescue becomes less likely, they must unite to prepare for a savage fight to survive.

Assegai

With the support of his uncle, General Penrod Ballantyne, Leon Courtney joins the King’s Rifles of Nairobi. Disillusioned by dishonesty in army life, he is recruited for a mission to spy on Germans in East Africa ahead of the Kaiser’s war. Disguised as a professional game hunter, Leon investigates a wealthy industrialist, Otto Von Meerbach, while struggling to keep his focus as personal feelings complicate his task.

Birds of Prey

In 1667, as war between the Dutch and the English continues, Sir Francis Courtney, his son Hal and their crew sail the Lady Edwinna, licensed to seize Dutch East India Company treasure ships. After capturing a Dutch trader and holding passengers to ransom, they find themselves in unlawful waters. An unexpected betrayal brings greater peril, and many may never see home again.
