A Valley Dream

In 1935, thirty-six-year-old Bella Porter is dependent on her abusive cousin, working as an unpaid servant. When a kind relative leaves her a house in the village of Backshaw Moss, her cousin Thomas attempts to take it from her.

Bella refuses to give in and seizes the opportunity of a new start in Lancashire. The house, however, is in disrepair, divided into flats and located on the edge of a slum.

A Valley Secret

In 1930s Lancashire, 22-year-old Maisie Bassett is left an old sewing box and a clue to her father’s identity after her mother dies. Determined to begin again, she changes her name and moves to the small town of Rivenshaw, where she finds work in a grocery store.

Her new life is complicated by unwanted attention from a man at her church, until Gabriel Harte intervenes.

A Valley Wedding

Set in Lancashire in 1936, Gwynneth Harte faces an empty nest after her son Gabriel marries and her youngest pursues his ambition to become a doctor. A fire then forces her to move in with Gabriel and his wife Maisie at their home on Daisy Street.

Elsewhere, Arthur Chapman has struggled since the death of his wife.
