Balfour Skye's Chardonnay 2022

From Balfour, Skye’s Chardonnay 2022 is an English still Chardonnay that brings together fresh, fruity character with a softer texture and creaminess more often associated with European styles. Made without oak, it allows the citrus flavours typical of the varietal to come through clearly, keeping the overall profile bright and focused with a clean palate.

In the winery, extended lees ageing and bâtonnage are used to help soften the acidity often associated with English wines. The fruit comes from the Balfour estate in the Weald of Kent, established when Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn planted their first vines near Staplehurst in 2002. While the estate is best known for its sparkling wines, its still wines are also highly regarded, supported by a strong focus on wine tourism.
