Caballo Loco Grand Cru Maipo 2022

From Valdivieso, Caballo Loco Grand Cru Maipo 2022 is a non-vintage wine created using the house’s distinctive blending approach, pioneered by winemaker Jorge Coderch. Inspired by the solera method used in sherry production, barrel-aged wines from different years are progressively blended to build depth and continuity from one edition to the next. Each bottle contains 50% of the current vintage and 50% of the previous edition, with the blend varying year by year depending on which grapes performed best in that vintage.

Part of the Caballo Loco ‘Grand Cru’ series, this release is named for the terroir from which it is sourced. Grapes are taken from specific blocks within sub-valleys, selected for conditions described as ‘unrepeatable’ and distinctly different from other vineyards, even within the same valley. The result is a wine noted for dense complexity, with layered aroma and flavour that reflects both its precise origin and the evolving character of the Caballo Loco editions.
