This three-book collection brings together novels by Christy Lefteri: The Book of Fire, The Beekeeper of Aleppo and Songbirds. Each story centres on lives reshaped by upheaval, from sudden disaster to the long aftermath of conflict and loss.

Across the set, Lefteri follows characters facing what happens when home, security and certainty are taken away. From a family in a Greek village devastated by fire, to a couple forced to flee Aleppo, and a domestic worker whose disappearance is overlooked, these novels focus on the personal cost of events that can change everything.

Included titles

  • The Book of Fire
  • The Beekeeper of Aleppo
  • Songbirds

Synopses

The Book of Fire

In a small Greek village set deep within an ancient forest, Irini and Tasso live with their daughter, Chara. Their world is shattered when a forest fire sweeps through, consuming the village and leaving homes burned and lives permanently altered. The story asks what comes after the flames have passed.

The Beekeeper of Aleppo

Nuri is a beekeeper and his wife, Afra, is an artist. They live in the Syrian city of Aleppo, surrounded by family and friends, until war destroys everything they care for. Forced to escape, they must leave behind the life they knew.

Songbirds

Nisha has travelled far to secure a future for her child, spending her days caring for someone else’s daughter while her own waits for her return. Petra employs a domestic worker to keep her household running, and although their lives differ, both are bound by love for their daughters.

When Nisha disappears, few take notice, except Petra and Yiannis, Nisha’s secret lover and the only link to her child in Sri Lanka.
