Painted Wolf Guillermo Pinotage

From Swartland, Painted Wolf Guillermo Pinotage is a rich, intense red made from organically certified Pinotage grapes grown in the unirrigated Kasteelsig vineyard. Hand-picked in small baskets, the fruit was hand sorted, destalked and gently crushed before fermentation in small open bins.

After pressing, the wine completed alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, then matured for around 12 months in a mix of French, Hungarian and American oak, with approximately 50% new wood. It shows ripe blueberry and mulberry, exotic spice and creamy vanilla, supported by ripe tannins and a long, lingering finish. It drinks well young and will continue to develop added complexity for 6 to 8 years from vintage.
