The Little Women Collection gathers four books by Louisa May Alcott in one box set, bringing together the original novel, its second part, and later stories that return to Jo’s life. Across the series, the focus remains on the March sisters and those around them, tracing their journey from early years into later stages of life and new responsibilities.

Set in New England with the Civil War as a backdrop, the collection explores family bonds and personal change. Later instalments move to Plumfield, a rural boarding school, revisiting familiar characters and the world first introduced in the earlier books.

Synopses

Little Women

Set in New England during the Civil War, this novel follows four sisters, Jo, Beth, Meg and Amy. Different in temperament and interests, they are united by love for each other and their family as they try to survive and find their way in a changing world. The story moves between light-hearted and serious moments while touching on love, friendship, class and gender struggles.

Little Men

Published in 1871, this story begins when two homeless boys from Boston arrive at Plumfield, a rural boarding school run by Jo and her husband, Mr Bhaer. Life at Plumfield ranges from boisterous pillow fights on designated Saturdays to lessons in running a business, presenting an unconventional education.

Jo's Boys

Following on from Good Wives and Little Men, this book returns to the world introduced in Little Women. It revisits Jo after her marriage to Mr Bhaer, as she becomes caretaker to a houseful of lively children at Plumfield School.

Good Wives

Part two of Little Women, this coming-of-age story follows Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth as their lives unfold in different ways. It includes gentle love stories and humour, alongside the sad passing of one of the sisters.
